Celebrity Eclipse Cruise Review – Continued. Sea Day 9 & 10 Arriving in Lisbon
Continuing along with my Celebrity Eclipse cruise review – Sea Day 9 & day 10 arriving in Lisbon
April 25th 2016, Day 9 – At Sea.
Todays activities listed in the Celebrity paper. Each day it mentions the sunrise and sunset along with the dress code for the evening.
After our usual breakfast and coffee’s we joined the crowd of people in the theatre for another of the guest speaker presentations… Mickey Live talking about our port of call tomorrow, Lisbon.
As you can see from the image below, it was a very popular talk, full of great tips on what to see when visiting Lisbon for the day.
Shopping frenzy on the Eclipse
Coming out of the theatre we walked into a wall of people… Having never seen so many folks in this one spot before I escaped up the stairs and took a look back down.
It was a shopping frenzy with people filling baskets and buying all sorts of jewelery items. The same thing happened again when the shops held a watch sale, one lady had 5 watches in her basket!!
Hot Glass Show on Celebrity Eclipse
Moni & I enjoyed lunch and at 4pm I went to watch the Hot Glass Show up at deck 15 on the Lawn Club area. These Hot Glass girls did a show on most sea days of the crossing, each time producing a piece of glass for auction later in the cruise.
The show went for two hours and at the end they had made a wonderful piece of art. I didn’t manage to get a photo of it the next day (was totally absorbed in other things) which was a shame. I’d recommend this show to anyone that has not seen how these artists work with glass.
A fascinating show with commentary from the artists as they work with the hot glass, each of them making a part that came together as a whole piece for the final product. They held a raffle at the end as well with a few previously made items up for grabs.
Dinner in the MDR
We enjoyed our dinner once again, but tonight we sat at a different table as we dined with Jelena & Mickey. It was Jelena’s last night onboard and we wanted to celebrate together.
Our starters tonight were the Vegetable Crepe, Traditional Leek & Potato Vichyssoise and Ravioli (which I can’t find on the menu, lol).
Our main meals were Whole Wheat Spaghetti Pomodoro for Moni & I had the Crispy Pork Schnitzel. Moni commented that her pasta dish was lacking in flavour, rather watery. My meal was very good again. For dessert we both had the Creme Brulee which I’ve photographed before.
Michael’s Club on Celebrity Eclipse
We finished of the evening in the Ensemble Lounge where Rob joined us for drinks and a good yarn. We also got to take a look around the exclusive Michael’s.
This is only for suite guests & Captain’s club members at Zenith level. In Michael’s the guests have their own bar and relaxing lounge area with access to a dedicated concierge.
It wasn’t very busy at that time and we found out that most of the suite guests use their own concierge (in Michael’s) for all bookings and requirements which keeps the concierge very very busy.
April 26th 2016, Day 10 – Lisbon
Today was an awesome day in many ways… Let’s start with the beautiful weather for our sail into Lisbon. But before we get too excited about Lisbon, check out what else is going on with Celebrity Today paper.
Celebrity Eclipse cruise into Lisbon
After breakfast and a coffee we joined Mickey outside the Lawn Club lift exit for our spot to watch the approach into Lisbon.
The 25th of April Bridge in Lisbon
(Ponte 25 de Abril), Lisbon in the distance (above) and closer with the Christ The King statue behind. The entire cruise in took nearly 2 hours.
After a 190 degree turn we dock alongside in Lisbon. Now we are ready to explore the city of Lisbon.
Getting off the Eclipse, we had to scale down these very steep steps of the gangway…
Has anyone had a steeper gangway than this? And so our adventure in Lisbon begins… continued in the next post.
On returning to the ship too late for our early seating in the MDR, we made our way to the Oceanview and enjoyed dinner from the buffet.
We waved goodbye to beautiful Lisbon just after midnight and then watched from our balcony as we made our way back out to the ocean. Just a little chilly…
