Savor and Taste Review – Main Dining Rooms on Norwegian Escape

DINING REVIEW OF SAVOR & TASTE ON NORWEGIAN ESCAPE

Savor and Taste are two of the Main Dining Rooms on Norwegian Escape situated opposite each other both with the same menus. This is our Savor & Taste review.

These two restaurants which are classed as main dining rooms, have the same menu as in ‘The Manhattan Room‘ which is the other main dining room. They are situated on either side of the ship and smaller than the Manhattan. Service is slightly more personal here but the food the same as the other main dining room.

Let’s talk breakfast

Breakfast is served in both Savor & Taste but not in the Manhattan. This is a sample breakfast menu in Savor or Taste.

Our score was 7/10 for breakfast. Why did we score this? The menu for breakfast is quite good with plenty of choice. The dining room is nice and light, and the service quite attentive. Where the problem lies is in the speed of service and actually recieving what you ordered.

People for breakfast often like to get it over quickly so they can get on with the days activities. On the two occasions we had breakfast here, the wait for our meals was far too long. And to make it worse, when the plates arrived, certain items were missing.

Apart from that, the food was very nicely presented and tasted great. Tea was served in china pots which was really nice to see.

The private room at Taste

There is a downstairs part to Taste which was not yet in use, (on this cruise) but apparently will be used when the ship is full, it is known as The private room at Taste. The photos below show the decor in the private room at Taste.

Lunch in Savor & Taste

Tip here – Remember not to leave it late as they close at 1.30pm on this cruise which we found rather early.

Lunch in both these restaurants was fine, the meals were good and we enjoyed two visits. Sadly, the menu was the same each lunch and not very extensive either.

The lunch meals were very nice and pressented well, and the food was hot. The portion size was perfect as well. Service was good as well with our waiter topping up water and enquiring if the meals were fine. I think that the staff certainly had much more time at lunch to interact more with customers and provide a more attentative service.

Our score was 8/10 for the lunch in Savor & Taste.

If the menu changed more and was larger with more choices I’m sure it would be our favourite venue for lunch on the Escape. Other places to eat lunch on the Norwegian Escape are the Garden Cafe which is buffet style, O’Sheehan’s pub or Margaritaville.

Dinner in Savor or Taste

We did experience dinner in Taste on one of our evenings aboard the Escape. The menu for dinner does change daily, yet is the same in all three main dining rooms.

We liked the feeling in this dining room, it was busy yet still a calm atmosphere.

Our dinner meals were; Chicken consomme with Morel mushrooms and Cream of Asparagus soup with smoked salmon. Followed by Chicken Parmigana, the other meal I forgot to photograph.

Desserts were Snickerdoodle Pound cake, vanilla ice cream & strawberries and Apricot rice pudding.

We shared a table with two more couples and had a nice evening chatting. The meals were ok but nothing to rave about. Service was also ok, like in the Manhattan room doing enough but no more. A shame really, after experiencing much better service at lunch.

To sum it up, Taste & Savor were best experienced for lunch.

Our score overall was 7/10.

Maybe we needed to go back to try them a few more times for dinner which would normally be the case on other cruise ships, but with the Escape having so many different dining options it’s hard to keep going back to the same main dining room.
