Glacier Bay National Park Alaska
Our second visit to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve was again drowned in rain. This time we viewed the glaciers from the Ocean Bar with a whisky in hand.
Cruise Day 10 – Glacier Bay National Park
Day 93 – June 3rd.
I had ordered breakfast in the stateroom for today and at 8.10 it arrived. I woke Moni and we enjoyed our meals.
After showering and rugging up we head out to take a look at what we can see. The waters are even more full of ice this time and it feels even colder, if that is even possible.
The naturalists have already boarded and have set up again in the Crows Nest ready to talk about the area.
The weather is pretty bad, lots of rain and damn cold, did I mention that? lol.
We take a quick look outside and promptly return to warmer parts, being the Ocean Bar where we enjoy some heart warming liquor…
The Ocean Bar is actually a good spot to view the Glaciers from as it is near to an exit which allows you to quickly go outside if you wanted to, plus it is a lot less busy with people.
As we are walking along Moni spots a group of Orcas in the distance so we sit and watch them as we slowly leave them behind.
That was quite fortunate it is only the second time that we have spotted them.
Next it was time for lunch in the dining room.
Movie time in the Cinema screening room on Oosterdam
After lunch we relaxed and continued to enjoy the views from inside the warm ship. Later on we caught a late movie in the cinema room where they have packets of popcorn to enjoy.
The cinema room can seat between 25 – 30 if I remember right, in nice comfortable chairs. You can take your drinks in and sip away during the movie, however you can’t save seats (apparently) and it does fill up so get in early.
After the movie we enjoyed dinner.
Time for a walk around the decks before bed.
Tomorrow we will visit Haines.
