After breakfast we (Inge, Cettina, Moni & I) walked together. We had a really great time walking at a nice pace talking and joking along the way. The weather wasn’t what you’d call a fine day, but it was ideal for walking, until we got closer to the top of the hill.

Unfortunately, at the top we were surrounded by clouds and fine rain, it didn’t dampen our spirits and we continued on the way down from Alto de Pardon. Just a shame for the pictures.

It soon brightened up and it was not long before we removed our rain ponchos and started picking delicious blackberries.

Along the way we had many an opportunity to pick these berries which gave us good energy on route. We stopped before the town of Urtega to tend to Moni’s feet with a change of the Heilwolle.

Here where we stopped for a while, was a small one man tent. You can just see it in the left photo.

On reaching the village we stopped for a coffee. It was here that we got talking to a man, who is the owner of the tent and is also a pilgrim. But not just any old pilgrim.

Antonio, has been walking the Camino for many years, back and forth to various destinations. He travels alone having lost his wife six years ago. He decided he had nothing else and so he spends his time walking the Camino and talking to other pilgrims.

We spent a good hour here with him and the resident cat who took to Moni, like all cats do!!

Continuing our walk as the temperature rose we could peel off the layers. I loved my beanie and kept it on the entire Camino. I found much more comfortable that a cap.

Eventually we arrived in Puente La Reina where we decided to treat ourselves…

Here was a small hotel that offered a fine buffet lunch ‘all you can eat and drink’. You could say that we made the most of it.

Many pilgrims stay here in Puente La Reina and you can see why. It’s very picturesque and full of character.

We carried on though towards Maneru, which is a nice small village.
