A Closer Look at Carnival Legend Decks 2018

Let’s start this closer look at Carnival Legend and each of her decks with what’s on offer with regards to all public areas of the ship.

Some of the public places we didn’t experience but I have pretty much photos from all over. Please note that this is not a review or critique only for your information. My review for our 9-night Carnival Legend South Pacific cruise will be published at the end of this series.

Carnival Legend deck 12 – Sky

You probably won’t spend much time on this deck, but you’ll most certainly not miss it. That big red funnel is located here and Carnival has one of the nicest looking and unique funnels of all cruise lines.

You can relax on the sun loungers up here and it’s generally a very quiet place, away from any bar service and crowds of people.

From here walk down the stairs to deck 11, Sports.

Carnival Legend deck 11 – Sports

This deck has a front and back part which you can get to from the Sun deck below via stairs.

At the rear, you’ll find Carnivals’ Waterworks.

This is a waterpark at sea with water slides, a drop floor water slide and a water bucket that tips. There are some chairs for parents to sit while their kids play.

At the front of the ship on the Sports deck is the basketball court and a mini-golf course.

The course is in good condition, and with plenty of clubs and balls, you don’t have to wait long for a round. It has 9 holes if I remember right and playing whilst in dock is cheating, 🙂

You can also see down the glass roof to the sauna & gymnasium below, but the best view is out to sea of course. The blue path is the Jogging track, not very big you might get dizzy 🙂

Carnival Legend deck 10 – Sun

Around the sides on deck 10, Sun, are lots of pods to lounge in as well as sun loungers. No bar service here and it’s family friendly.

From the rear you have the waterworks area moving forward you pass the Nouveau restaurant.

The Nouveau restaurant is over two levels and you can enter it from the Sky deck as well as from the Lido buffet. During the day it takes on a red or purple tinge, this is because the restaurant is directly under the red glass roof next to the funnel.

The Nouveau is a speciality venue and requires a surcharge of $55 per person.

Then you are just before midship and here you find two table tennis tables tucked away with the entrance via stairs down to the Lido deck where you come out directly in front of the BlueIguana Cantina on one side and Guy’s Burger joint on the other.

This is the ideal deck for a good stroll around. Here you can walk front to back along the sides with views to the Avalon pool with the sliding roof and the front Camelot pool.

On this deck forward starboard side is a designated smoking area as is the same on deck 9 Lido below.

The Gym runs over two decks 10 & 9 which you can enter and the Club O2 entrance is also on the port side up here.

Starting at the front outside of the Gym you can walk all the way around, you can also do this on the Lido deck which is one below on deck 9.

Here you can actually walk out on the “bridge wings” as I call them and look along the side of the ship as she glides through the water.

And here is the entrance to the Gymnasium which is through the Spa with various treatment rooms.

Walking towards the back from here you’ll find yourself in the first of the two family pools. The forward pool called Camelot Pool and then the main pool named Avalon Pool.

The forward pool area has sun loungers on each side with cover from the above deck. The same goes for the main pool area but here on each side is a bar.

There is a stage under the sliding sky dome roof which will be very handy in wet weather.

The port side is BlueIguana Tequila Bar and on the starboard side is the RedFrog Rum Bar. On this side of the pool area, people were allowed to smoke 🙁

Moving along, you get to Guy’s Burger Joint starboard side and BlueIguana Cantina portside.

And on each side near both of these food venues, you’ll find a soft serve ice cream machine open 24 hours.

Next up is the Lido buffet area on Carnival Legend called the Unicorn Cafe. Here you can get a variety of food options, breakfast, lunch, dinner, 24-hour pizza, afternoon cakes, deli sandwiches, barista style coffee. I’ll write up a review at the end of this series of posts, to sum up, our cruise on Carnival Legend.

Let’s call that quits for now. I’ll continue with the other decks a little later on another sea day, however, if you have just joined us then you might want to start at the beginning on this 9 night Carnival Legend South Pacific cruise report.
