Our Stay at The Ibis Hotel Close to The Madrid Airport

We had a one night stay-over in Madrid and decided on a hotel close to the airport. The best deal I found was at the Ibis hotel. €58 which was $84 AUD

Day 1124 – 30th March 2017

Ibis has a shuttle service that runs back and forth to the airport throughout the day.

After contacting the hotel the day before arrival, I was informed by the hotel that between 10.30am & 11.30am they have a break.

Our flight was early and so we needed to wait at the airport for 50 minutes before the next shuttle came. During this time many other hotel shuttles stopped and picked people up.

The pick-up point for the Ibis hotel shuttle service (and other hotels) is outside the arrivals hall and over the road before the car-park.

Odyssey Tip; The Ibis hotel shuttle service will take you to and from the airport as many times as you like.

I mention this because I did have a few concerns about finding the best way to get into Madrid city from the airport while staying at the Ibis near the Madrid airport (Barajas International). The answer is, that from the airport it is easy peasy and you can read all about it in this post The Best Way to Get From Madrid Airport to The City

We had a comfortable non smoking room on the second floor

The room was basic with a comfortable queen bed, a small sitting area and a generous sized bathroom with huge shower. A TV, a few hangers, a window that opens and blackout blinds. There was no safe in the room.

The hotel had basic yet decent facilities

There is a bar in the foyer with a TV showing a sports channel. We had a beer here with a couple of small tapas which was enjoyable.

All you can eat breakfast for €7.50 per person until 10.30am

On departure morning we had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. It’s a buffet with a good selection of items with very good staff constantly topping items up.

Even though there was nothing hot or cooked (US or UK style) there was plenty of choice… cold meats, cheese, breads, pastries, fruits, juice, tea, coffee from a machine (not bad) cereals, jams, yoghurt plain & fruit, tortilla and probably more which I forgot.

Check-out was easy and the shuttle brought us to the airport all hassle free.

All up, we had a very enjoyable stay here and would certainly recommend it to travellers wanting a hotel near to the Madrid airport with easy access to the city.
