Crossing the Equator Ceremony for Shellbacks & Pollywogs
Day 285 – December 12th, 2014.
At Sea.
A nice sleep in this morning with a late breakfast up in the Lido buffet, where I sampled Moni’s favourite breakfast.
After breakfast it was an earlier time for our continuous rehearsal of the Flash Mob… Today we actually had a few more people join, whether they stay for the stage show is another thing.
Yes you read that right, we are going to perform on the stage, here’s me not one for going on stage, but no turning back now. It’s going to fun for sure.
“Crossing the Equator Ceremony for Shellbacks & Pollywogs”
After our 30 minutes rehearsal learning a new part it was off to the outer deck to watch the crossing of the Equator celebration with Poseidon the Greek god of the seven seas and the christening of those that cross the Equator for the first time.
It was not our first time crossing the Equator but the first time we got to see the shenanigans of what goes on. Basically it’s a big food fight. Even Zafer the F&B officer got sacrificed today and was covered in brown sauce, eggs etc. These are the officers that have yet to cross the Equator and were treated to their first ceremony.
They all jump in the pool after and then kiss a fish.
More guests can then do the same leaving a huge mess to clean up. This has been a long-standing seafarers tradition and is done on all ships when crossing the Equator.
“Lunch in the main dining room on Celebrity Infinity”
Having stayed to watch the ceremony we then went for lunch in the main dining room.
“Coffee & cake in Café al Bacio”
It was time to catch up with some stuff online and no better place than in the Cafe al Bacio with a coffee and slice of cake.
“Dinner in the main dining room on Celebrity Infinity”
Formal night with waiters Serkan and Soner, a couple of familiar faces and new ones, snobby Australians that didn’t know where Esperance was!!! Yet totally told us it was in South Australia, oh well.
It was a great night at our table with fun guests Estele & Fred who kept us entertained the whole dinner time. We are trying to get on Serkan’s section as he and Soner are two awesome waiters.
