Cruising on Carnival Splendor in November
Day 261 – November 18th, 2014.
“Caribbean Cruise on Carnival Splendor – at sea day 3”
Up around 8am and continuing on from our first sea day yesterday we decided to have breakfast in the dining room from the seaside brunch menu which runs from 8.30am to 1pm.
Service was slightly more attentive but still lacking. A full table of ten with some travellers made for good conversation.
After breakfast we had a coffee from the coffee shop, worst yet… not getting better!! While we waited for the art & craft session to begin…
The lady turned up with a small cardboard box and shouted “are you ready for some craft” with a lame response she shouted again, this time it was much better. Then she announced to everyone to come up and see what was to do, she handed out packs of craft at sea packs of make a ribbon flower (rose) and within 5 minutes if that she had handed them all out and left…
To everyone’s surprise, well the ones that stayed and we spoke with!! WTF, absolutely crap service or entertainment for this event, I’m glad we were not the only ones that found it very poor. Although it did say in print on the Fun Times program ‘DIY art and craft’ oh well.
“Carnival Splendor swimming pools & water slide”
Oh well, with that created and handed over to another couple for them to enjoy we left to go back to the cabin, where I got changed to head to the pool side, Moni with her book.
I had a go on the water slide and then a dip in the salty water pool, before sunbathing to dry off. The slide was not all that fast and the few kids made it busy. The deck chairs are nearly all taken, on every level and place that they are laid out. I have never seen them so busy like on this ship. The pools are very busy as are the spa baths.
There are not too many families with kids this cruise, but we did here that next cruise there are 900 rug rats under 18 years… oh bugger. That will be interesting!!
“Afternoon tea on the Carnival Splendor”
I had some Indian from the Tandoor buffet which was by far the best food so far. Moni was not hungry. We rested up back at the cabin before afternoon tea at 3pm.
This was a fun affair with some enjoyable guests and also the best waiters so far, happy and fun, which really makes the difference. The only thing strange was that they had to go a find some jam for the scones.
“Mini golf on top deck”
Next up we tested our mini golf skills on the top deck forward. To add to the challenge it was very windy and the ship moving made it extra fun.
“Late sitting dinner in the Golden Pearl”
Dinner was again at our table in the Golden Pearl with Carla & Edwardo from Brazil who we are having a good time with, not sure why the other couple have not returned.
Another towel art animal greets us.
