Supermarket Shopping in Japan

Shopping in Japan is a feast for the senses, your eyes don’t know where to look first, your nose is smelling fresh produce, your ears are listening to the chatter of local shoppers and you can feel the fruits and vegetables. The only thing missing is the taste, but not for long as you can sample some items as well.

Day 38 – April 10th, 2014.

The Japanese love to portion and wrap everything so neatly, and you can get almost anything you want in a size you want at a reasonable price. Walking around in awe at the shelves fully stocked with items, for us it is difficult to know what is what.

The fruits and vegetables is not such a problem, the fish and meat a little different from our Australian meat display’s. The pre packed sushi and ready to go meals is great, so much choice and cheap.

“Lunch at the local sushi train in the shopping arcade”

As the known rule of not shopping with an empty stomach is true, fortunate for us we had just had a fulfilling lunch at the local sushi train otherwise our basket would probably be over full.
