The Heathman Hotel in Portland
The Heathman hotel in Downtown Portland was our residence for four nights whilst attending the World Domination Summit at the Albert Schnitzer Concert Hall which is basically next door, an ideal place to stay if you want to be near to an event or show.
Day 130 – July 10th.
Check-in at the Heathman Hotel was quick and easy and the concierge pushed our trolly load of luggage to the room and unloaded it all, kind of strange, but they have to do it to earn their tips I guess.
Our room was quite plush with a huge bed that you need a step up to get on, lol with lots of pillows.
I wish they’d iron out the creases in my bed though, I mean we are paying $287.21 per night so I’d expect that, wouldn’t you?
The bathroom was a little small but had everything you need.
The hotel restaurant was listed as one of the best in the area, and the prices reflected that as well, we only took a look and decided to eat out, but before we dine we must first organise a sim for Moni’s phone.
Walking a few blocks in any direction you pass many shops and restaurants as well as cafe’s and pubs. Portland is an awesome place for all those things and even famous for it’s food carts that line the pathways on some streets ideal for cheap good food.
We find the At&t store and in we go and out we walk with a new sim for the phone. no contract just a new sim for the phone, no questions asked, just pay and receive, that would have to be the easiest phone arrangement ever, lets hope it all works!!
“some of the best coffee places in the country”
Next up it was time to check out the coffee here in Portland. I was reading that Portland is supposed to be home to some of the best coffee places in the country, lets see…
“Apple store in Portland”
I’m pleased to announce that the coffee from this place was great, they really know how to make a fine coffee, on leaving the Barista cafe we were offered some of the bakery items from the guy saying that they were closing up and would only have to throw them away. We enjoyed them on the way to the Apple store a few blocks away.
We found out that Portland is also a tax free state and so the purchase of my new Macbook Air was even better, saving me from having to try and claim back the tax when leaving the country. All in all a very productive day, just time for dinner now.
After dropping off the laptop back at the hotel we walked around a few blocks until we were ready for dinner and found this good looking Italian restaurant. Dinner and a bottle of wine was very fine indeed.
Back to the hotel and a good nights sleep ready for the World Domination Summit world record yoga attempt in the morning.
